As of November 2026, borrowers whose loans UAS services manage them in UAS Connect, the borrower portal at uasconnect.com. They see every loan, pay once or on a schedule, decide where extra money goes, download statements and tax forms, and message UAS securely. An automated phone line answers 24/7, and representatives take calls on weekdays.

Why the borrower side decides how much work lands on you
Every borrower who can't find a balance, a due date or a payoff amount picks up the phone. If the servicer can't answer, they call the school or the credit union whose name is on the loan.
So when you compare servicers, look past the back office. Ask what a borrower can do without talking to anyone, and what happens when they do need a person.
What borrowers can do on their own
See every loan in one place
Borrowers and co-signers each register their own login. A borrower with three loans from your program sees all three, with balances, due dates and history.
Pay their way
One-time or recurring ACH payments in the portal, payments by phone, or a check by mail with the statement coupon. Recurring payments run on the date the borrower picks.
Split a payment across loans
A borrower paying on several loans can say exactly how much goes to each one. Co-signers can do the same for the loans they've signed.
Choose what extra money does
When a borrower pays more than the amount due, they pick how it's applied: straight to principal, or held as a credit against the next bill. The portal saves the choice for next time.
Pull their own documents
Promissory notes, disclosure statements and account statements are in the portal when UAS holds them. The 1098-E for student loan interest is there from early January.
Ask for a change
Deferment, forbearance and cancellation forms, payment authorizations, name changes and third-party release forms are online. Which ones a borrower can use depends on your program's rules.
When a borrower needs a person
UAS's automated phone line runs 24/7 for balances, payment status and payments. Representatives answer Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm Central, and borrowers can send a secure message from the portal at any hour.
UAS staff only talk about an account with the borrower, or with someone the borrower has authorized in writing. That release is signed for each loan, so a parent can be cleared on one loan and not another.
The details that keep borrowers out of trouble
- 01
Payoffs that don't double-charge
A borrower on Auto Pay who wants to pay off a loan gets the payoff amount online, and the payoff has to post at least 3 business days before the next draft. They can also switch Auto Pay off for that loan themselves.
- 02
Refunds on overpaid loans
If a payoff overshoots, the extra is refunded. Borrowers who haven't seen it within 14 days can ask about it.
- 03
A clear line on what UAS can't do
UAS services your loans. It doesn't own them, lend, or consolidate, and borrowers are told so in plain terms. Questions about forgiveness or repayment plans on federal loans are pointed to Federal Student Aid.
- 04
Help for borrowers who serve
Borrowers called to active duty can get the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act rate cap of 6%. Federal loan types may carry their own military deferment or, for Perkins loans, partial cancellation for service in a hostile-fire area. UAS checks each request against the loan's rules.
What this means for your office
Your staff see the same account in their own online access, so when a borrower does call you, the answer is one lookup away. And because statements, payments and changes run through UAS, your team spends its time on program decisions.

The company behind the work
Questions buyers ask
Do loan servicers offer self-service portals for borrowers?
Many do, and UAS's is UAS Connect at uasconnect.com. Borrowers and co-signers register, see every loan UAS services for them, pay by ACH once or on a schedule, download documents and send secure messages.
Can co-signers see the loan and make payments?
Yes. A co-signer registers their own UAS Connect login, sees each loan they've signed, and can pay all of them at once or aim a payment at one loan.
How does UAS apply a payment that's more than the amount due?
The borrower chooses. Curtailment puts the extra toward principal right away; pay ahead holds it as a credit that lowers the next bills. The choice is saved, and when there's no choice on file, the loan's terms set the default.
What hours can borrowers reach UAS?
The automated phone line runs 24 hours a day. Representatives answer Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm Central, and portal messages can be sent any time.
Can a parent or spouse call about a borrower's loan?
Only if the borrower signs a release naming them, and the release covers one loan at a time.
Do borrowers get a 1098-E for student loan interest?
Yes. UAS posts the 1098-E in the portal from early January, and mails it where that's the program's choice.
