TSI Hosts a Collections Compliance Webinar

On Wednesday, May 18, TSI tackled the often intimidating subject of compliance in a webinar cohosted by TSI speakers Tracy Spears and Jonathan Thompson.

Spears and Thompson covered the current compliance climate from A to Z, discussing what abusive collections practices led to the influx of regulatory changes that define our current regulatory environment, before moving on to case studies of companies who failed to remain compliant, important regulatory changes and then to compliance best practices.

Spears and Thompson called on their 40+ years of shared experience in the industry to discuss common, dangerous practices that companies keep simply because they do not know which questions to ask when it comes to compliance. They went over what questions to ask when choosing a collections agency and what to ask when monitoring your collections agency.

Thompson, as the Chief Compliance Officer for TSI, also opened up the last few minutes of the call for a  Q&A session.

If you missed the webinar, you may access the recording here to learn more about how compliance affects you and what you can do to remain compliant.

Tracy L. Spears is a Vice President with TSI, author, consultant and a member of the National Speakers’ Association. Tracy is also the co-author of the best-selling book, “What Exceptional Leaders Know” which delivers high-impact skills, strategies and ideas for all types of leaders.

Jonathan Thompson is responsible for TSI’s compliance function and reports directly to the Compliance Committee of TSI’s Board of Directors.  He supports Board direction and maintains the independence and authority necessary to cross departmental lines and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
