Servicing continuity is a risk control, not an ops line item

A servicing interruption is a capital-markets event. When a payment is misapplied during a migration or a legacy servicer takes weeks to surface data, the cost shows up in warehouse covenants and consent orders. TSI runs private loan servicing on UAS Connect inside a multi-LOB compliance platform built to keep servicing running.
OBBBA takes effect July 1, 2026. The rules reshape who borrows, how much, and where the volume lands. For private lenders and fintechs, the question isn't whether origination shifts toward private credit. It's whether your servicer can hold quality and compliance while it does.

What changed on July 1, 2026

The "Working Families" loan provisions in OBBBA took effect July 1, 2026. Grad PLUS is eliminated for new borrowers. Annual caps land at $20,500 for graduate borrowers ($100K aggregate) and $50,000 for professional borrowers ($200K aggregate). A new Repayment Assistance Plan charges 1-10% of AGI for up to 30 years, alongside a Tiered Standard Plan running 10-25 years. SAVE, PAYE, and ICR borrowers must transition by July 1, 2028.
These caps push borrowing demand into the private credit market, which is exactly where UAS focuses. At the same time, the Department of Education announced a temporary delay of involuntary collections (wage garnishment and Treasury Offset) to roll out repayment reforms. Roughly 5.5M defaulted borrowers face garnishment when that pause ends, expected late summer or fall 2026, with a second-chance rehabilitation option included.
Backup-servicing readiness isn’t a contract clause you hope never matters. On a multi-LOB compliance platform, it’s a standing capability that turns a servicing interruption from a crisis into a transfer.

UAS Connect

UAS operates the proprietary UAS Connect platform, built for private student and consumer loans as a deliberate hedge against federal volatility. UAS was the first company focused on campus-based loan services and the first to offer cohort management, 24/7 phone account access, and electronic promissory notes.
Always-on borrower access

24/7 online access, real-time transaction processing, online payments, and a fully integrated VRU. A white-label borrower portal keeps your brand in front.

Flexible loan mechanics

Flexible interest, calculation, and capitalization, with integrated tuition and loan servicing on one platform. Built and maintained through an Agile/Jira product process.

Dedicated servicing staff

About 145 dedicated loan-servicing staff sit within TSI’s broader workforce, with the platform-level scale to back them.

Surge capacity from the platform

TSI’s 20+ site, 10,000+ agent footprint absorbs distress-driven call-volume spikes, so a garnishment restart or an origination surge doesn’t overwhelm the line.

Why servicing continuity belongs on the risk register

Warehouse lenders and capital-markets partners now demand granular, current data. A legacy servicer that takes weeks to produce it creates friction precisely when speed matters. A misapplied payment during migration can draw a CFPB consent order. The CFPB Private Education Loan Ombudsman logged roughly 22,900 student-loan complaints and 2,100 debt-collection complaints in its most recent year, and delinquency credit reporting has resumed.
The market around you is thinning out. Navient is permanently banned from federal servicing. MOHELA has drawn criticism for wait times and billing delays on legacy systems. Nelnet absorbed Great Lakes. Software-only providers like LoanPro and LendFoundry hand you a platform but not the operation. TSI brings both, under one compliance infrastructure.

Messaging by altitude

For the CFO / chief risk officer

Servicing continuity sits on your risk register. Backup-servicing readiness on a compliance platform turns an interruption into a controlled transfer, not a covenant breach.

For the head of servicing

UAS Connect handles real-time processing, flexible loan mechanics, and a white-label portal, with dedicated staff and platform-level surge capacity behind them.

For the operations manager

24/7 borrower access and a fully integrated VRU keep service steady when garnishment restarts or origination spikes drive volume.

Frequently asked questions

What does "servicing continuity as a risk control" mean?

It treats backup-servicing readiness as a standing capability, inherent to a multi-LOB compliance platform, so a servicing interruption becomes a controlled transfer rather than a capital-markets event.

UAS Connect is a proprietary loan-servicing SaaS platform with 24/7 online access, real-time transaction processing, online payments, a fully integrated VRU, and a white-label borrower portal.

New borrowing caps and the elimination of Grad PLUS push demand toward private credit, where UAS focuses. SAVE, PAYE, and ICR borrowers must transition by July 1, 2028.
